ATLANTA, Ga. - Clark Atlanta volleyball fell in a five set match at home to Albany State, 3-2, where two of the five sets were extended to extra points - both sets that ASU would end up winning. This was just the second five set match of the season for the Panthers and the first to played at home.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Clark Atlanta won both the even sets - 25-19 in the second and 25-11 in the fourth - but was on the short end of two extended point sets with Albany State winning the odd sets.
After losing the opening set, 25-21, CAU claimed set two, 25-19.
Early in the second set Clark Atlanta scored 10-of-14 points to take the 14-9 advantage. The final three points saw
Dariyan Stallings serve and kills tallied by
Ashley Elmore,
Sierra Scoggins, and Elmore again. Back0to-back kills from Scoggins moved the CAU lead to 16-10.
Clark Atlanta would never trail from that point and would claim the set on a kill from
Sabrina Tucker off the pass from
Kiara Govan.
The third set was the first set to go beyond 25 points for the winner as ASU would win the set, 29-27. The Panthers got out to a 7-0 lead behind the serving of Govan and would lead later in the set, 19-10. Clark Atlanta still managed to had set point, 24-20, before four consecutive points for the Lady Rams. CAU got to 25 first before ASU responded with a pair of points. The scoring went back-and-forth on several long points before ending with ASU scoring the final two points.
In the fourth set, Clark Atlanta posted the best hitting percentage of any set in the match, .480, and after trailing 2-1 the Panthers scored 11 straight to end the set behind the serving from
Brittani Brown.
In the final set of the match CAU was outhit, .393-.250. Clark Atlanta led early, 8-7, and even had the 16-15 advantage before ASU scored 4-of-5 to end the match.
THE NUMBERS:
Clark Atlanta outhit Albany State for the match, .194-.152, and scored more points 81-64.
The Panthers led the match scoring in kills, 68-51, aces, 7-6, assists, 60-48, and digs 82-74.
Scoggins (19) and
Taylor Prude (18) tallied the highest kills counts for the game with Elmore (13) setting a career-high for kills in a match.
Govan posted 57 assists in the match to set a new SIAC-high for a match this season. She eclipsed her previous best effort of 45 assists set this past week and Benedict.
Stallings contributed a match-high 28 digs with Brown registering her first double-digit total of the season with 12.
