ATLANTA, Ga – The Panthers headlined in the first game of the doubleheader and picked up the 71-65 victory versus Shorter. The Panthers handed the Lady Hawks their fourth straight loss of the season, and goes on a three game winning streak.
Reyana Miller and
Marissa Mandeldove led the Panthers in scoring with 24 and 23 respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter | Shorter opened the game up with a driving layup by Kayla Tillie, but Clark Atlanta quickly responded with a long-range bomb from
Kiyanna Johnson. The Panthers enter a tough back and forth battle before giving up an 8-0 run that provided the Lady Hawks with a 13-point lead.
Second Quarter | The Lady Hawks opened the second quarter with a quick layup by Taylor Adams, but the Panthers answer with a
Danielle Veney layup. The Panthers led the Lady Hawks 14-26 before a 13-0 run was sparked by a
Nicole Graham 3-pointer. Miller and Veney combined for back-to-back steals and layups during the run.
Third Quarter | The Panthers led Shorter coming into the half, but struggled from an offensive standpoint. The Lady Hawks scored off a Jackie Hudson jumper to take the lead. The Panthers defense comes alive as they prevent the Lady Hawks from scoring on seven straight possessions. After trailing for most of the half, the Panthers put together a couple of quick layups by
Lauren Turner and Mandeldove to end the quarter with a lead of 48-47.
Fourth Quarter | The Panthers offense got off to the hot start, and continued where they left off. An 8-0 run gave the Panthers their biggest lead of the night (seven). Mandeldove and Miller both provided the Panthers with quick scoring. The Panthers began to run away with the game before late game fouls ensued. The Lady Hawks scored in short spurts, and tried to make a comeback with the help of a technical foul by the Panthers. The technical foul was quickly administered to the Lady Hawks bench which sent Mandeldove to the line where she would go 1-for-2. The Lady Hawks played the foul game, but their efforts fell short as the Panthers hold them off for a 71-65 victory.
THE NUMBERS:
Clark Atlanta held the decided advantage in bench scoring, (30-5), steals, (17-7) points off turnover, (27-15).
Mandeldove was active recording six steals along with a season high 11 free throws. Miller went 9-for-15 (60%) from the field.
The Panthers shot 25-for-63 (39.7 %). The defense recorded 17 steals, and quickly turned defense into offense scoring 27 points off turnovers.
