ATLANTA, Ga. - Clark Atlanta men's basketball saw a lead mid-way through the first half become a double-digit point loss versus Benedict, 80-67.

HOW IT HAPPENED:After Benedict opened the scoring with a 3-pointer, Clark Atlanta went on a 6-0 run fueled by 3-pointers from
James Arnold and
Chuka Eneh.
Clark Atlanta trailed 10-8 before a 9-0 run put the panthers ahead 17-10 with 14:05 remaining. The run saw points scored by
Tim Sanders,
Derek Harper, and Arnold.
In the midst of a Benedict 10-0 run, Clark Atlanta lost the lead for the remainder of the game. Benedict added a 10-4 run to end the half, 37-29.
The second-half deficit was stretched to double-digits on the first of two 7-0 runs by the Tigers.
THE NUMBERS:Clark Atlanta shot 24-for-65 (36.9 percent) from the floor and 5-for-22 from 3-point range. The Panthers added a 14-for-18 effort from the FT line.
Benedict committed 10 turnovers that Clark Atlanta converted into nine points; Benedict turned 15 CAU turnovers into 15 points.
Clark Atlanta held the advantage in second chance points, 21-7, but trailed Benedict in bench points, 39-18, and points in the paint, 32-22.
Three starters reached double-digits in points in Harper (17), Arnold (15) and Sanders (12). The trio, along with
Lawrance Freeman, registered two assists.
Sanders, ranked No. 25 nationally in steals, picked up two more steals in the game.
Darreontae Moore had a game-high nine rebounds off the bench. The total represented a season-high for the junior.
