Panthers Defeated at D-I Samford, 43-0

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - In the first meeting between Clark Atlanta and Samford University of the Southern Conference, the Panthers were defeated, 43-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Samford scored early with an opening drive of four plays for 55 yards in 1:08 ending with a 42-yard scoring pass.
 
On the next drive, Samford found the end zone again with a 24-yard passing play.
 
Anthony Pistelli kicked field goals (25, 28, 20, 40) for four of the next five scoring plays with a 51-yard scoring pass in the middle.  The score at halftime was 33-0.
 
Samford added a third quarter scoring run and another Pistelli field goal (42-yards) in the fourth quarter.

THE NUMBERS:
Clark Atlanta was outgained, 435-179.
 
Clark Atlanta totaled 83 rushing yards on 41 attempts and 96 passing yards on 10-for-29.
 
CAU had 15 first downs in the game; seven rushing, five passing, and three via penalty.
 
Clark Atlanta claimed the advantage in time of possession for the seventh time this season, 38:52-21:08.
 
Both Matthew Vincent and Dashawn Blow saw time at quarterback.
 
Jaha McCray rushed for 78 yards on 24 carries while adding four grabs for 19 yards.
 
Davonte Webster had two receptions for 51-yards.  Webster had a team-long 33-yard reception in the game.
 
Joshua Tate made nine-tackles for a team-high.  Tate added another pass break-up to his total, giving him 10 this season.
 
Antonio Mallard had a sack while Fredrick Alexander and Mykel Lucear teamed for another sack.
 
UP NEXT:
Clark Atlanta had a late addition to the 2015 football schedule with one more game on the road, this time visiting North Greenville on Nov. 14. The kick time has yet to be determined.
