ATLANTA, Ga. - Aftre splitting the opening four sets, the fifth - and final set - went to overtime before Clark Atlanta rallied to defeat Benedict, 3-2.
The opening sets were split; 17-25, 25-20, 17-25, and 25-21.
The fifth set was tied, 9-9, after CAU had a service error to tie the game after leading by one point. Benedict scored three of the next four points to hold the 12-10 advantage in the first to 15 points.
Points were traded with small runs with the final tied score of the match, 18-18. CAU scored the final two points after an error on Benedict and a final point on a Sierra Scoggins on a kill that erupted the fan base in attendance.
The match feature many errors, 31 for CAU and 28 for BC. Cori Smith tallied 17 kills while Kiara Govan scored 45 assists.
Clark Atlanta will travel to Albany State on Oct. 13 before hosting Loyola and North Greenville on Oct. 16.
