Panthers Split Conference Road Double-Header

Box Score 1 Orangeburg, S.C.---The Panthers of Clark Atlanta University split two conference road baseball games with Claflin University after a 7-4 loss and a 9-3 win Sunday in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

CAU (7-19, SIAC 5-7) jumped out to an early 4-0 in the second inning after a two-run single by junior Johnny Surry who finished with three RBIs. The Panthers held this lead through four innings until Claflin blasted six runs in the fifth as it claimed the lead and never relinquished it. Clark Atlanta managed only two hits thereafter while giving up one more run.

In game two, Claflin gained the early with the game's only homerun in the second and held a 3-0 lead through three innings. However, the CAU's bats came alive as they captured a 4-3 lead in the fourth behind Manuel Gasper and Marcus McDaniel's RBI single, and Omar Preito's two-run single.All three contributed two RBIs in the game to lead the Panthers. With five more runs in the top of the fifth, the Clark Altanta sealed the win. DeMarcus Taylor picked up the win for Clark Atlanta.

Next, the Panthers will travel to face Paine on the road before hosting Morehouse College in the series finale April 12 and 13.
