Lady Panthers Pounce Albany State in the Second Round

Albany, GA---It had the feel of a championship game with so much at stake as the Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers downed the top-seeded Lady Rams of Albany State (25-20, 25-11, 25-21) in straight sets to advance in the winner's bracket of the Southern Intercollegiate Conference (SIAC) volleyball tournament today. 

The Lady Panthers (20-17) were relentless and never gave Albany State the advantage by sweeping the Lady Rams in the second round. Junior Chanel Trice led the Lady Panthers with 11 kills followed by Ashley Brooks and Cori Smith who added nine each. Libero Tyneishah Spears picked up 16 digs while Kailyn Blackmon served three aces. WIth the win, Clark Atlanta handed Albany State its first loss to a conference opponent this season.

"This was a great win for us and it was an all-around great effort from everyone," said CAU Head Coach Brittany Black.

Next, the Lady Panthers will face the West Division No. 2 seed Stillman College in the quarterfinal round Thursday, Nov. 8, at 4 p.m.
