Marcus Murrell serves as the Deputy Athletic Director for Internal and External Operations at Clark Atlanta University, where he oversees athletic facilities, game operations, event management, transportation, and departmental operations. With more than 25 years of experience in athletic administration, venue management, and sports operations, he is committed to delivering operational excellence while enhancing the student-athlete experience.
Since joining Clark Atlanta University in 2019, Murrell has led facility improvement projects, managed game-day operations, coordinated athletic transportation and logistics, and directed strategic initiatives involving facilities, technology, and operational systems. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor in the School of Business, teaching Sport and Entertainment Event Management and preparing future sports industry professionals through real-world learning experiences.
Murrell earned an MBA in Sport & Entertainment Management from Clark Atlanta University and a bachelor's degree in Sport Management from Winston-Salem State University, where he was a football student-athlete. He is a graduate of the NCAA Dr. Charles Whitcomb Leadership Institute and the International Association of Venue Managers' Venue Management School (VMS) and Graduate Institute (VMS-GI). A former two-sport high school All-Star, Murrell won state championships in the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles and continues to bring the leadership, discipline, and teamwork developed through athletics to his professional career.
