Alane Hickman has served as the Head Cheer Coach at Clark Atlanta University since 2011. A proud Clark Atlanta alumna (Class of 1997) and former team captain, Hickman helped lead the program to back-to-back Black College Cheerleading National Championships in 1996 and 1997 before returning to her alma mater to continue its tradition of excellence.

Known for building a culture centered on leadership, integrity, and competitive excellence, Hickman has elevated the CAU Cheer program into one of the premier HBCU spirit programs in the nation. Her leadership has produced the 2019 SIAC Cheer Championship, numerous nationally recognized performances, and a program respected for its commitment to student-athlete development both on and off the floor.

Beyond the sidelines, Hickman is a nationally recognized cheer educator, having served as a Head Instructor with the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA). She is also a co-founder of the Clark Atlanta University Cheer Alumni Union, an organization dedicated to preserving the program's rich history while strengthening connections between generations of Panther cheerleaders.

In 2026, Hickman was inducted into the Clark Atlanta University Athletic Hall of Fame in recognition of her extraordinary contributions as both a student-athlete and coach. She is also an Honorary Member of Tau Beta Sigma, Theta Nu Chapter, recognizing her commitment to supporting collegiate bands and the spirit of Panther Pride.
A breast cancer survivor and advocate, Coach Hickman's personal mission is to inspire others through faith, resilience, and purpose.
