Dr. Carmellia Shivers-Cole is a native of Titusville, Florida, who competed in varsity volleyball, basketball, and track and field at Titusville High. She was a full scholarship track and field athlete at Florida Community College and Florida State University. Her events were the heptathlon, hurdles, jumps, throws, sprints and relays. She has state, conference, national and all-American championship titles. She competes on the elite level as a master track and field athlete. A lengthy coaching career began as a graduate assistant coach at Florida State University, followed by the Assistant Coach Position at Morehouse College and the Head Coaching position at Howard University.
Groundbreaking achievements and a commitment to excellence mark Dr. Shivers-Cole's coaching career. She was the first woman coach in the history of Morehouse College and the first woman head coach in the history of Howard University. Her expertise has been volunteered to AAU, elementary, middle, and high school teams and athletes, and she has coached in prestigious conferences such as the ACC, MEAC, and SIAC. Her reputation as one of the best multi-event coaches is well-deserved, with her athletes including junior Olympians, state, conference and NCAA Champions, All-American, world and Olympic qualifiers and medalists. Her achievements speak volumes about her coaching prowess and the confidence she instills in her athletes.
Dr. Shivers-Cole's life experiences have shaped her into a leader and mentor who is passionate about equipping people and organizations with life and leadership success. Her collaborative approach, working with all generations and organizations for training, growth, and development, reflects her desire for everyone to be their best selves. Her personal qualities of kindness, empathy, truthfulness, and straightforwardness further enhance the trust and connection she builds with her clients and mentees.
Dr. Shivers-Cole earned her associate's degree at Florida Community College, her bachelor's degree in Biology at Florida State University, her master's degree in Administration at Central Michigan University, and her Doctorate in Strategic Leadership with a concentration in leadership coaching at Regent University. She is the author of ABC's End with Z: How Generation Z Will Change the Future Workplace.
Dr. Shivers-Cole is married to Lieutenant Commander Randy Cole, a retired United States Navy officer. They have two sons, Houston Cole and Austin Cole, Men of Morehouse College, and her cherished dog Stuey.
