Softball Sweeps Benedict in First Road Conference Wins

Lady Panthers take down Benedict in dramatic fashion

COLUMBIA – The Clark Atlanta softball team picked up their first three victories in conference play this weekend as they completed the sweep over Benedict College. The Lady Panthers took game one 11-3, followed by a 9-5 victory in game two, and a run-rule 11-0 win to secure the sweep in game three. 

GAME ONE - Clark Atlanta 11, Benedict College 3

In game one, five Lady Panthers mustered up two or more hits, including Madison Terry with a game-high 3 RBIs to add to her stat line. The leadoff hitter, Makayla Marquez, registered a game-high three runs to pace Clark Atlanta. Daria Bush got the start in the circle and struck out a career-high 13 batters and only allowed two earned runs.

GAME TWO - Clark Atlanta 9, Benedict College 5

In game two, Clark Atlanta's Alexis Daphney went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate while also getting the win in the circle with three strikeouts and only five earned runs allowed. Giavanni D'Amico also registered three hits in four plate appearances in the win. Makayla Marquez, Gabriella Aleman, and Maliyah Ward each recorded two runs apiece.

GAME THREE - Clark Atlanta 11, Benedict College 0

In the final game of the series, Clark Atlanta posted a shutout performance over Benedict as they run-ruled the Tigers 11-0. Summer Castro went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate and even recorded a run in the victory. Marquez, Daphney, and Andreya Hunter each collected two hits apiece in the win. Bush picked up her second win over the series in the circle after striking out five batters, and only allowing one hit and no runs. 

UP NEXT

The Lady Panthers look to regroup and continue conference play as they head to the SIAC Crossover in Hoover, Alabama, starting March 10-12.
