Lady Panthers Split Opening Day Doubleheader on Road Against Converse

Clark Atlanta opens 2025 slate on the road

DUNCAN, S.C. — Clark Atlanta softball kicked off the 2025 season with a road doubleheader against Converse on Wednesday afternoon. The Lady Panthers split the series, dropping the opener 7-0 before bouncing back with a dominant 10-1 victory in game two.

GAME ONE

Clark Atlanta struggled to find its offense in the season opener, falling 7-0 to Converse on Wednesday afternoon at Tyger River Stadium. Converse pitcher Riley Lingerfelt stifled the Panthers, tossing a no-hitter while striking out 16 batters in a dominant performance.
The Panthers (0-1) were unable to capitalize on their few baserunners, drawing only two walks and striking out 16 times. Shemia Clady reached base twice via walks, but Clark Atlanta could not string together any offensive momentum.

Hope Gunn (0-1) took the loss in the circle for the Panthers, allowing seven runs (six earned) on seven hits in six innings of work. Gunn struck out two and walked two but struggled in the fourth inning, where Converse (2-5) broke the game open with a five-run frame.
Converse took an early 1-0 lead in the first and added another run in the second before their big fourth inning put the game out of reach. Sydney Watson led the way for the Valkyries, going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, while Cara Willis also drove in two runs.
Defensively, Clark Atlanta committed two errors, making it difficult to contain Converse's offensive pressure. Shortstop Andreya Hunter recorded four putouts and two assists but also had one of the team's defensive miscues.

GAME TWO

After a tough loss in the opener, Clark Atlanta rebounded in dominant fashion, defeating Converse 10-1 in five innings on Wednesday afternoon at Tyger River Stadium.

The Lady Panthers (1-1) came out strong, scoring in each of the first four innings, including a five-run fourth that put the game out of reach. Myia Lambert led the offensive charge, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs, including a home run. Shemia Clady also contributed with two hits and two RBIs, while Gerielle Hoke added a hit, two RBIs, and two runs scored.

Clark Atlanta racked up nine hits and took advantage of eight walks and four hit batters to keep pressure on the Converse pitching staff.

MaKyla Bell (1-0) earned the complete-game victory in the circle, allowing just one run on five hits over five innings. She struck out one and walked one, keeping Converse (2-6) off balance throughout the game.
Converse's lone run came in the second inning, but Bell and the Panthers' defense shut the door from there, holding the Valkyries scoreless over the final three frames.

Clark Atlanta will look to carry this momentum into its next matchup as it continues non-conference play.
