Lady Panthers Drop Home Series to Edward Waters Despite Walkoff Victory in Game Two

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Clark Atlanta Lady Panthers softball team dropped their conference-opening series against Edward Waters, 2-1, despite earning a walk-off victory in Game 2. With the series loss, the Lady Panthers fall to 3-10 overall and 1-2 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.

GAME ONE

Clark Atlanta fell in a narrow 4-1 defeat in Saturday's opener at Lady Panther Softball Field. Shemia Clady sparked the offense early, notching a first-inning triple to bring home Rasheedah Hasan. However, the Lady Panthers were held scoreless for the remainder of the game.
The defense held strong until the fifth inning, when Edward Waters' Kaylah Newman tied the game with an RBI single to center field, driving in Olivia Garcia. With the bases loaded later in the inning, Kylah Gardner delivered the decisive blow for the Tigers, launching a grand slam to left-center to secure a 4-1 lead.
Edward Waters maintained that advantage through the final innings to take a 1-0 series lead.

GAME TWO

Freshman Gerielle Hoke pitched a complete game in her first start of the season, leading the Lady Panthers to a dramatic 7-6 win. Clark Atlanta rallied with a four-run seventh inning, capped by Tamia Polk's walk-off single, securing their first win over Edward Waters since 2020.

GAME THREE

The Tigers bounced back in the series finale, defeating Clark Atlanta 11-3 in five innings. Andreya Hunter led the Lady Panthers with three hits and two runs, while Johannas Bentley drove in a team-high three RBIs. Bentley and Sierra Lopez each recorded doubles in the loss.

UP NEXT

The Lady Panthers return to action on Friday, Feb. 28, when they travel to face Savannah State in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
