Lady Panthers Tennis Drops Narrow 4-2 Match to Emmanuel College

ATLANTA – The Clark Atlanta women's tennis team came up short against Emmanuel College on Friday afternoon, falling 4-2 at the John A. Redmon Tennis Courts.

Doubles

The Lady Panthers opened doubles play with junior Jumi Muhammed and freshman Joiya Middlebrooks, who fell 6-1 to the Lions' duo of Sabina Roua and Shatavisa Ghosh in the No. 1 doubles spot. Freshmen Janae Troupe and Alexandra Turnbough dropped their No. 2 doubles match to Tawana Senah and Anna Goncalves, securing the doubles point for Emmanuel.

Singles

Muhammed earned a crucial victory at No. 1 singles, defeating Roua 6-2, 6-1. Turnbough fell at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-4, against Ghosh, while Middlebrooks lost 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3 singles to Goncalves.
Troupe secured the first singles win of her collegiate career at the No. 5 spot, edging Franziska Wolter 7-6, 6-4. Kenyon Thompkins narrowly dropped the final singles point at No. 6, 7-6, 7-5, sealing the match for the Lions.

Up Next

The Lady Panthers return to action Thursday, Feb. 27, against Georgia Southwestern at 1 p.m. at the John A. Redmon Tennis Courts, in front of L.S. Epps Gymnasium.
