Ending a three-game series in which they scored a total of 51 runs, the Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers defeated Paine College 14-3 Tuesday at Lady Panther Field.
Clark Atlanta (13-15, 9-6 SIAC) moves to third in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference East Division race, behind first-place Albany State and Benedict. Paine end their season with a 3-26 record, 0-18 in SIAC play.
Skylar Smith struck out six Paine hitters Tuesday to earn the win, as Clark Atlanta scored six runs in the first and four in the second to take control of the game early.Â
Tatianna Kelly was 3-for-4 with a double and a triple, driving in three runs and scoring twice. Smith also drove in two runs with a double.
Cameryn Still had a double and home run, drove in two runs and scored twice.
A day earlier, the Lady Panthers blanked Paine 19-0 in the first game of a doubleheader. Smith gave up only two hits over four innings, striking out four, while
Chase Gray-Still had two hits and four RBIs and scored three runs. Kelly also had two hits, drove in three runs and scored four times.
Janae Adams homered and scored three runs while
Keshonna Terrell also had two hits drove in three runs. The Lady Panthers had twelve hits and a season-high 19 runs.
In the second game, Smith threw another two-hitter as the Lady Panthers won 18-0. Smith struck out five Paine hitters. Â
Kelly went 3-for-3, driving in three runs and scoring three times. Kelly had two doubles. Terrell had two hits and drove in four runs with a double and a triple. She also scored twice.
Laterria Jones also had two hits and drove in three runs, and herself scoring twice.
Cailla Williams also had two hits, driving in two runs and scoring twice.
The Lady Panthers now head to Albany, Ga., Thursday for a big three-game series with first-place Albany State. The two teams play a doubleheader Thursday and then a single game on Friday. The Lady Panthers return home Saturday for a Senior Day doubleheader against Edward Waters College to end their regular season. First pitch Saturday is 1 p.m.
