ATLANTA, Ga. - Clark Atlanta softball concluded the four-game weekend 1-3 after splitting a Saturday doubleheader versus Fayetteville State before being swept on Sunday by Carson-Newman in a pair of shutout losses.

HOW IT HAPPENED SATURDAY GAME 1:CAU trailed 3-0 after the second inning.
The Panthers plated two runs in the home third inning to cut the lead to one. After
Tamera Green led off the inning with a single up the middle,
Kendall Washington hit a homerun down the left field line for her first career homerun.
FSU scored once in the fourth and three times in the fifth to lead 7-2.
In the home sixth inning,
Zhandria Usher began the inning with a single up the middle before being lifted for
Jolene Nazaire as a pinch runner.
Veranae Woods singled through the left side to score Nazaire.
Jessica Vason scored the second run of the inning on a failed pick-off attempt when the catcher threw the ball into left field.
Washington and Green each had two hits in the game for the only CAU players with multiple hits.
Ashley Nelson (1-for-3) had a successful stolen-base attempt.
Shalonda Woods (0-1) got the loss after pitching to six batters in just over an inning and gave up three runs - all earned - before Washington pitched the final six innings and allowing seven hits and four runs.
HOW IT HAPPENED SATURDAY GAME 2:Clark Atlanta erupted for four runs in the third inning. Veranea Woods singled to center to move Usher to second base. Vason singled to left to load the bases.
Sharnitra Woods singled up the middle allowing User to score from third, a fielding error by the centerfielder allowed
Veranae Woods to score from second base.
Vason scored later on a defensive error ahead of another error allowing
Sharnitra Woods to score the final run of the inning.
Ajada Cofield took a no-hit bid into the sixth inning before surrendering a one-out single. Two hits in the seventh inning led to two runs scoring one out shy of the shutout.

Sharnitra Woods each had two hits in the game.
Ashley Nelson (1-for-3) added another stolen base in the game.
Cofield (3-4) struck out four and allowed just one walk for the complete-game victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED SUNDAY GAME 1:Carson-Newman scored seven runs in the third inning, once in the fourth, and nine times in the fifth.
Shalonda Woods delivered a one-out bunt single to break-up the no-hit bid.
HOW IT HAPPENED SUNDAY GAME 2:Single runs scored in the first and second inning ahead of two in the fourth capped the scoring for Carson-Newman.
Washington singled to start the game through the left side of the infield. CAU would not get another hit until the sixth inning when
Desiah Wofford delivered the pinch-hit double down the left field line for her first hit of the season.
Cofield (3-5) pitched her second complete game of the weekend surrendering eight hits and four runs - three earned - with a trio of walks and one strikeout.

For the weekend,
Veranae Woods and
Kendall Washington each tallied three hits and three runs scored while five players added two hits.
Cofield tossed 14 innings with 11 hits and six runs allowed with five strikeouts for the weekend in two starts.
The CAU defense committed 12 errors to just five for the opposing teams.
