Atlanta, Ga.--Clark Atlanta University women’s tennis team earned a third place finish in the 2013 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) with a 5-1 victory over Fort Valley Saturday hosted by Morehouse College.

After dropping the No. 1 doubles match in a tie-breaker (8-9 (4-7)), CAU reeled off five consecutive wins  including the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles position and two straight set victories by freshman Vonnick Boyogueno (6-0,6-1) from the No.1 position and sophomore Vanessa Jean-Baptist (6-0, 6-1) at the No. 2 spot. Junior Brionne Bachus, who was named to the SIAC All-Tournament team, sealed the win as she finished her No. 3 singles match with a three set victory (6-0, 3-6, 7-5). In singles play, the Lady Panthers
(14-8) won 40 of 53 sets. Baptist was also named to the All-Tournament singles team while the No 2 doubles tandem of Asia Boyd and Ivory Conley received all-Tournament doubles honors.

The Lady Panthers fell short of competing for another conference title after suffering a tough 5-3 loss to Benedict College Friday night.
